What is Chemtrail Skate?

The Chemtrail Skate (CTS) YouTube channel was created in 2018 as a place for my friends and I to post short skate edits for our own memories. Over the years I have filmed, edited and posted numerous videos based around our longboarding adventures and experiences at home in New Zealand as well as abroad. The core reason for the channels creation was to "share the stoke" of downhill skateboarding and that is still my main focus in every video I make.

In 2021 some time after moving to the USA I decided to try something new and make a review as I felt it would be something fun that maybe I would be good at. I reviewed a set of "Midnight Series" Liam Morgan pro wheels from Blood Orange. I really enjoyed the whole process of making the review and from there I went on to create a lot more. Early in 2023 I had another video idea, a weekly series of news styled videos providing a commentary of current events in the downhill skateboarding global community. I called it "This Week In Downhill" (TWID) and the series seems to have done a great job of sharing the stoke in the scene which is awesome.

CTS is now a channel filled with gear reviews, weekly(ish) news shows, raw runs, DH informational videos, event edits and skate films of, for and by the homies. Creating videos related to longboarding has become almost as much of a passion for me as actually riding them and I am so stoked they are getting other people stoked!

So why the name Chemtrail Skate? Its simple really, when trying to think of a name for the channel my friends and I bounced around a lot of different ideas. We had a sort of inside joke poking fun at the growing amount of people who were commenting on our local community's Facebook page referring to the contrails left by planes as "chemtrails". Someone made the connection that "chemtrails" were sort of like thane lines in the sky and the abbreviation to CTS sounded cool so it stuck. Unfortunately since then the whole chemtrail thing became quite the controversy but I still find it amusing and like to think skateboarding is supposed to be a little controversial anyway.
